World Hearing Day 2024
Buwanga Way to Health Foundation evaluates the extent of awareness and perception in pupils about ear care in Manafwa District

Introduction
Buwanga Way to Health Foundation, dedicated to fostering a healthy, liberated community for a better future, successfully organized a World Hearing Day event aimed at enhancing ear health awareness. Reflecting our mission, the event emphasized health education, check-ups, and treatment, engaging 410 participants, including children and adults from the neighboring communities and primary school that is to say Nakhupa p/s, Bugobero p/s , Butta P/s, Nalondo p/s, Namokhonge p/s.
Attendance
- Targeted Participants: 500 individuals
- Actual Attendees: 410 (110 adults and 300 children aged 6-18)
Objective
To increase awareness and understanding of ear health care among children and adults, offering preventive guidance, health education, and treatment options to improve community health standards.
Activities
Health Education
Sessions on ear care importance and preventive measures, here we organized pupils according to their schools through coordinators they were attended to and received books and pens after the sessions.
We used our designed banner and public address to teach them.
Check-ups and Treatments
Provision of basic ear health screenings and treatments, our team of health workers who were 17 in number helped us to treat people after screening and it was done successfully.

Results and Achievements
The event succeeded in its primary goal of raising awareness and enhancing knowledge about ear care. The inclusion of both children and adults from various schools and the community enriched the outreach and effectiveness of the educational sessions and treatments provided.
Orphan children received scholastic material from the 5 mentioned schools above.
