World Sight Day 2022
Background
This day was initiated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness IAPB in 2000, designed to be celebrated on the second Thursday of October every year.
Aim
The main aim for the celebration is to enforce a global attention towards the prevention of blindness and create awareness about an inclusive eye health service delivery to all people irrespective of their location.
Activities
We have successfully celebrated with the community the World Sight Day by having a free eye screening exercise that added a smile to the community.
About 50 patients were screened in two days ie 12th and 13th of October 2022.
We also managed to teach people about prevention of Ebola virus disease.
Our theme for the world sight day: make everyone love his/her eyes.
Our target for next year:
- Training community health workers about identifying common eye diseases.
- Empowering the community about eye health services.
